Schiffer Publications

Have you contacted your Inner Witch lately?

Drawing on the rich symbolism of pagan tradition, this 45-card deck of cards is designed to not only stimulate the imagination, but also to facilitate contact with the ancestors on the other side. Well thought-out and beautifully illustrated, each card comes with a special incantation which can be used to magically draw the energy represented by the card into the reader’s consciousness.

The cards make excellent meditational tools. When used for divination, the ancient symbolism, coupled with the often highly emotive renderings, provides easy access to nearly unlimited layers of intuitive information. The creators suggest using them as adjuncts to traditional tarot card readings in order to gain subtle subtext to the tarot communication. The easy-to-read 112-page, full-color companion book makes this deck perfect for beginners as well as for advanced oracle readers. SHOP FOR THE DECK

Deck of Interest—Pagan Ways Tarot

Aug 07 2015 Published by under Anna's Decks of Interest, Schiffer Publishing

Schiffer Publishing

What’s new in nature?

These 78 vibrantly-colored images capture the energy and tradition of nature-based spirituality and bring the related gods, goddesses, nature spirits, and elemental essences into the modern era. The illustrations are bold, with almost theatrical costumes and settings. The goddess Empanada becomes the woman in the golden robe. The god Herne becomes stability of creation. Phaedra becomes the apathetic woman by the sea.

In the 190-page, full-color companion book Anna Franklin shares the symbolism and insight from her decades-long practice as a pagan priestess. You can explore the meaning behind the pictures as much or as little as you choose. Regardless, these images are so unique and show-stopping that no one will be able to dismiss this as “for pagans only”.

The book contains upright and reversed meanings for each card but seasoned card readers will find that they need no help in finding intuitive associations for these striking cards. SHOP FOR THE DECK

Deck of Interest—Egyptian Lenormand

What will the ancients say to you?

Channeled from ancient Egyptian gods and goddesses, this 41-card deck combines wisdom from the ancient world with the popular Lenormand system of cartomancy. Created by artist, mystic, and Reiki master Khepri, the illustrations are highly animated and if you hold them for awhile you will begin to sense a slight buzzing quality surrounding them. The energy which Khepri has instilled in them can be activated for healing and for ritual/manifestation work as well.

The 176-page companion book contains full-color illustrations of each card along with in-depth interpretations of its meaning and use in healing and magical workings. The tidbits of information about ancient Egyptian customs and symbolism are an additional perk.

I found myself smiling as I looked through the deck. The happy quality of the drawings makes them excellent tools for meditation as well as divination. Once they have drawn you in, expect to be surprised by the layers of higher information that they provide. SHOP FOR THE DECK

Deck of Interest—The Cook’s Tarot

May 09 2015 Published by under Anna's Decks of Interest, Schiffer Publishing

What does cooking have to do with tarot?

Judith Stirt has a solid knowledge of tarot — historically, psychologically, and esoterically — which creates the foundation of this deck. Her strength as a painter has allowed her to put that knowledge into a visual form which can inspire and instruct. Beginning with the format of the traditional Rider-Waite Tarot, she has translated the wisdom of each of those cards into her own symbol system, producing a deck with is loyal to the inherent wisdom of Waite’s revered deck, but which communicates that wisdom in a new, feminine-oriented, modern manner.

The free-spirited, brightly colored, dynamic illustrations reflect her Jamaican childhood. The lessons she attaches to each card image reflect the myriad cooks that loomed large in her life during those early years. I admit that, at first glance, I suspected that this might just be a novel theme applied to a time-tested product. Nothing could be further from the truth. Stirt lived the tarot for six years as she painted each image, sometimes throwing out the first results and starting over until each painting reflected what the tarot had shared with her. Don’t miss this one! SHOP FOR THE DECK

Book of Interest—90 Days to Learning the Tarot

May 01 2015 Published by under Anna's Books of Interest, Schiffer Publishing

Schiffer Publishing

Can you learn to read tarot cards?

Part instruction book, part workbook, and part motivational guide, Gifford has taken a unique stance on working with tarot decks. She asks readers to throw out the rigid guidelines and fixed meanings that are often associated with reading tarot cards. Instead, she suggests beginning with a survey of our inner world in order to connect with the intuitive core that lives within us all.

Once readers have learned to listen to their instincts, she asks them to explore the tarot deck. She tells them to use observation and free association to develop a personal sense of meaning for each of the cards. She does include some time-tested basics, like traditional spreads, symbolism drawn from the Collective Unconscious, and ethical guidelines for doing readings in keeping with Universal Law.

This brightly designed book uses Ciro Marcetti’s The Gilded Tarot for illustration. It’s a feast for the eyes as well as highly informative. SHOP FOR THE BOOK

How does energy flow through your life?

These 42 vibrant and dynamic cards can help you find out. They are divided into Chakra cards, Action cards, Color cards, Animal cards, Crystal cards, and Angel cards. Saleire provides instructions for pulling one card from each group and using them to create a layout which will give readers information about why a challenge exists in their life and how to create a solution for it. However, the cards are very powerful and will also work well individually for meditation and daily inspiration.

The 96-page companion book offers insight into the cards, as well as providing a concise but detailed explanation of the seven major chakras. This one is something different, a truly unique oracle deck. The first reading I did using Saleire’s layout was incredibly on target and helpful. I left the spread out on a table for ongoing guidance and energy. SHOP FOR THE DECK
